“Better than sex” was how St. Petersburg society figure Yuri Mikhailovich Dormidoshin described the truffle-and-caviar dinner held on 30 May at Caviar Russia. It is hard to imagine higher praise for food, and even harder to disagree.
The dinner was prepared by Anna Khakhmashvili, chef of Bruno Truffle House. Having trained in France under the “king of truffles”, Mr Bruno himself, Anna now runs the kitchen of Russia's only restaurant where every dish contains truffle!
The truffle-and-caviar dinner menu featured:
Brioche with pressed caviar and summer truffle
Frozen sterlet shavings with pepper sauce, sturgeon caviar and Brumale truffle
New potatoes with truffle cream and sturgeon caviar
Halibut fillet with morels, asparagus, sturgeon caviar and truffle
Truffle crème brûlée with mascarpone ice cream and sturgeon caviar
The dishes were paired with fine wines supplied by Alianta.
